Iva Hladis

Iva Hladis è nata in Cecoslovacchia nel 1965 e fin da piccola ha respirato arte: sia la mamma che il papà erano infatti artisti. A quindici anni, dopo che le fu negato di studiare arte, è diventata membro di "Charter 77", un gruppo politico undergroung che difendeva i diritti umani nella Cecoslovacchia poi occupata dalla Russia. Nell'estate del 1985, Iva scappò dal suo paese e arrivò a Roma. Un anno dopo le venne concesso asilo politico negli Stati Uniti. Dopo il suo arrivo, iniziò a dedicarsi interamente all'arte, la ragione che l'aveva spinta a lasciare il suo paese. Negli ultimi 24 anni la sua arte ha attraversato diverse fasi. Dalle figure astratte dominate da un intenso simbolismo a figure umane. Più recentemente la sua attenzione si è rivolta verso il tema del riscaldamento globale e della distruzione del mondo con una nuova serie di opere intitolate "Origins Extinct", composte da assemblaggio di parti di computer usati, in particolare le "schede madri", elementi botanici, formiche, perline di vetro ceco, oggetti trovati, fili elettrici, perle. La sovrapposizione di materiali industriali di scarto ed elementi naturali hanno lo scopo di evidenziare cosa c'è di sbagliato nella società e la perdita di un equilibrio. Le opere sono state esposte per la prima volta in Giappone, al Kitakyushu Municipal Musueum of art di Kitakyushu nel 2005 e al California Art Connection, Kurokawa Inn Art Museum, di Amagi.
Iva Hladis ha esposto le sue opere dal 1993 a oggi a Los Angeles, la città dove vive, e in altre città americane, tra cui New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Santa Fe, Newport. Attualmente vive e lavora a Los Angeles.

Hladis Iva was born in Czechoslovakia in 1965 and has breathed art since childhood: the father and mother were in fact artists. Fifteen years after she was denied to study art, became a member of "Charter 77", a political group undergroung defending human rights in Czechoslovakia, then occupied by Russia. In the summer of 1985, Iva escaped from his country and arrived in Rome. A year later she was granted political asylum in the United States. After his arrival, he began to devote himself entirely to art, the reason that led her to leave his country. Over the past 24 years his art has been through several phases. From the abstract figures dominated by an intense symbolism of human figures. More recently his attention has turned to the issue of global warming and the destruction of the world with a new series of works entitled "Origins Extinct", composed by assembly of parts of used computers, in particular the "motherboard", botanical elements , ants, Czech glass beads, found objects, electrical wires, pearls. The juxtaposition of industrial waste materials and natural elements are intended to highlight what's wrong in society and loss of balance.

The works have been exhibited for the first time in Japan, Kitakyushu Municipal Art Musueum of Kitakyushu in 2005 and the California Art Connection, Kurokawa Inn Art Museum, the Amagi.
VAT Hladis has exhibited his works since 1993 in Los Angeles, where he lives, and in other American cities, including New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Santa Fe, Newport. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
