Gianni Cagnoni
Nato a Rovigo nel 1947, Gianni Cagnoni ha cominciato giovanissimo a dipingere. La passione per l'arte l'ha portato fino agli anni '80 a realizzare numerosi lavori a tema figurativo. Successivamente però, si è dovuto prendere una pausa per i crescenti impegni professionali e universitari (è dottore commercialista e professore di Economia aziendale all'università di Padova). Solamente all'inizio degli anni Novanta ha ripreso la sua vocazione artistica, realizzando una serie di opere sul paesaggio, denominate "Africa" e "Mutazioni", che mettono volutamente in crisi i parametri estetici ordinari proponendo pseudo paesaggi che ondeggiano tra sogni astrali e ghiacci preistorici, tra suggestioni lunari e nostalgie africane creando un mondo di bellezza sognata. Alle tele dedicate al paesaggio ha alternato lavori che indagano il corpo umano: le immagini proposte appaiono in una staticità forse solo apparente. I corpi "mummificati", stesi in uno strato più culturale che geologico si collocano in una dimensione particolare, quasi una sospensione, che esalta il rapporto osmotico corpo - terra recuperando una reale condizione umana al di fuori delle convenzioni e delle convinzioni.
Recentemente si è avvicinato alla fotografia ed ha realizzato, a New York nelle tre estati 2006, 2007 e 2008, una serie di fotografie che ritraggano "la bellezza nascosta degli oggetti di scarso valore e di uso comune" colta nel dettaglio della loro vulnerabilità. Sono le screpolature, i graffi, le lacerazioni, la sporcizia di bidoni e sacchi delle immondizie, di colonne della metropolitana, di piatti sporchi, di vetri, di muri e di porte, che diventano colori e forme astratte ridando dignità all'oggetto abbandonato. È la bellezza nascosta delle nostre città che viene esaltata. "Trash" è il titolo del catalogo che raccoglie oltre cento lavori realizzati in questi tre anni. Le fotografie, sono stampate su plexiglass e, con una tecnica messa a punto dallo stesso artista, su pellicola trasparente domopak, su sacchi di juta e su cartone di recupero.

.Born in Rovigo in 1947, young John began to paint Cagnoni. The passion for art led him up to the 80s to make numerous themed figurative works. Subsequently, however, has had to take a break for the growing professional commitments and university (chartered accountant and is a professor of Business at the University of Padua). Only in the early Nineties he resumed his artistic vocation, making a series of works on the landscape, called "Africa" and "Mutations", who deliberately put in crisis by offering aesthetic parameters pseudo ordinary landscapes that float between dreams and astral ice prehistoric lunar influences between African and nostalgia to create a dream world of beauty. Paintings dedicated to the landscape has alternated works that investigate the human body: the images presented in a static appear perhaps only apparent. The bodies "mummified", laid in a layer of cultural geological sit in a particular size, like a suspension, which enhances the body osmotic relationship - a real human condition, recovering the ground outside the conventions and beliefs.
There has recently been approached to photography and has produced, in New York in the three summers 2006, 2007 and 2008, a series of photographs that depict "the hidden beauty of the objects of small value in common use" caught in the detail of their vulnerability. There are cracks, scratches, tears, dirt bins and bags of garbage, subway columns, of dirty dishes, glass, walls and doors, colors and abstract shapes that become the object restoring dignity left. It is the hidden beauty of our city is exalted. "Trash" is the title of the catalog which includes over one hundred works made in these three years. The photographs are printed on plexiglass, with a technique developed by the same artist, on transparent film Domopak, of jute bags and cardboard recovery.
