Patrik Alò

Nato a Roma il 6 agosto del 1975 da madre ungro-libanese e padre italiano, Patrick Alò vive dai primi anni tra Italia e Stati Uniti, e compie gli studi d'arte a Roma. Dai movimenti studenteschi alle occupazioni per attività sociali e agli squat scopre la passione per l'archeologia industriale, il riciclo ed il cyberpunk, e vi fonde l'amore per il classicismo.

«Patrick Alò si scopre scultore nei territori abbandonati dalla mareggiata postindustriale, in vecchi capannoni, in fabbriche abbandonate e ricondotte a nuova vita dal fenomeno dei centri sociali. Qui incontra la Mutoid Waste Company, un gruppo di artisti di ispirazione punk, che ha animato la scena rave europea costruendo mostri meccanici, installazioni dinamiche. Alò comprende che quei materiali, quelle macchine desuete si prestano appieno ad esprimere la sua vena poetica ad un tempo potente ed immaginifica. Apprende la tecnica, individua un campo preciso di ricerca ed abbandona immediatamente le suggestioni cyberpunks della MWC per dare espressione alle creature fantastiche che affollano il suo immaginario.
Chi conosce Roma, chi ha frequentato quella periferia disordinata che assedia resti di acquedotti o antichi tratti di mura, non può non riconoscere nelle sculture di Patrick Alò il termine ultimo di una sintesi tra due dimensioni adiacenti eppure così distanti. L'immagine scaturisce come una scintilla dall'accostamento di questi due universi schiacciati l'uno sull'altro. Un bullone, una molla, una lama divengono gli occhi o la schiena di un satiro o l'arma di un dio. E' un mondo che rinasce dalle sue proprie macerie, è il rifiuto o, meglio il riscatto perseguito attraverso materiali rifiutati da una società autofaga.
Siamo oltre le invettive dell'avanguardia, ci aggiriamo in un deserto di macerie ed è solo tempo di ricostruire. Ricostruire un mondo inaudito ma possibile, necessario persino. Non c'è altro in questa alba che rottami sulla spiaggia. E' già alle nostre spalle il naufragio delle ideologie, è lontano, altrove, l'orizzonte autoreferenziale dell'accademia. Alò, intanto, continua a raccogliere come un bricoleure ciò che viene scartato, rimosso. Affonda le mani nelle viscere di macchine obsolete e mette in immagine il pantheon di una umanità altra. Riscopre, nel fare, la natura astorica delle forme classiche e vi si abbandona.
Un dio antico torna allora ad abitare il nostro presente, rinasce a noi nel ferro e nel fuoco. S'invera, diviene carne attraverso la fatica del fabbricare, questo lavoro fisico che ci allontana da ogni deriva estetizzante, da flebili ripensamenti di un concettualismo oramai frigido. Ecco allora la centralità dell'Efesto, un vero e proprio autoritratto. Il dio più umile e, ad un tempo, il più utile ; un dio nascosto e negletto che orgogliosamente produce le forme che toccherà a noi di utilizzare».

Born in Rome on August 6, 1975-Lebanese mother and an Italian father ungro, Patrick Alò lives the early years between Italy and the United States, and he studied art in Rome. Student movement for social occupations and squats discovered his passion for archeology, recycling and cyberpunk, and it combines the love for classicism.

"Patrick Alò you find a sculptor in the territories abandoned by post-storm in old warehouses, abandoned factories and brought back to life by the phenomenon of social centers. Here he meets the Mutoid Waste Company, a group of artists inspired by punk, which has animated the European rave scene building mechanical monsters, dynamic installations. Alo, which includes those materials, those obsolete machines lend themselves fully to express his poetic at the same time powerful and imaginative. He learned the technique, identifies a specific field of research and suggestions cyberpunks immediately abandons the MWC to give expression to the fantastic creatures that fill his imagination.
Those who know Rome, who attended the edge besieging messy remains of ancient aqueducts, or sections of walls, can not but recognize in the sculptures of Patrick Alo the final size of a synthesis between two adjacent yet so distant.
